Who We Are and What We Pour

Concrete Contractors Sioux City builds and fixes the flatwork around houses in Sioux City and the smaller towns on the Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota sides of the river. The list is short and specific: driveways, back patios, stamped surfaces, public and private walks, front stoops and steps, garage floors, shed pads, and repairs to slabs that have cracked, dropped or started to scale.

The local problem we design for

Sioux City sits on loess, the wind-laid silt of the Loess Hills. Dry, it stands in near-vertical bluffs. Soaked, it loses its grip and washes out from under whatever rests on it. On top of that, the city gets about 36 inches of snow in an average winter and January lows near 10 degrees, so every outdoor slab spends months wet, frozen and salted. Most of what we do is aimed at keeping water out from under the slab and out of its surface.

Before, during and after a pour

Before: we walk the site with you, look at where roof water and street runoff go, probe the soil under any old concrete and check whether the address needs a city permit or a pre-pour inspection. Then you get a written quote.

During: old concrete is broken out, soft soil is dug out, gravel is compacted in layers, and forms are set to a fall that sheds water. Reinforcement and joint lines are placed before the mix arrives, and exterior work gets air-entrained concrete.

After: we cure the slab, tell you the day it can take people, cars and sealer, and remind you to keep salt off it for the first winter.

We do not quote slabs we have not seen. The depth of soft soil, the slope of the lot, how far the truck can reach and how much concrete has to come out all move the number, and none of that shows up in a phone call.
